Eastbay got started in 1980. Would you believe that two individuals took $7,000 worth of shoes to shoe clinics to show them off. They began selling and Eastbay was up and running. As they started selling operations took off. They added a phone staff to take orders and created a sales team in 1990. At this time they also began to sell jackets, pants, shorts and more. In just 15 years they went from two guys, Richard Gering and Art Juedes, to a public company. The company opened on the Nasdaq and was soon sold to Woolworth. What an amazing true tale of two individuals selling what they believed in and what they believed was best for the customer. It shows in the companies success.
