Netflix angers deaf with airing of Wizard of Oz

We highlighted that Netflix would stream free the Wizard of Oz for subscribers. They did. But, not long after, the National Association of the Deaf issued an angry letter stating that Netflix had ignored requests to include closed-captioning for the film. Not long after, Netflix released a statement that they would indeed have closed captioning functionality in 2010.

Online communities that were able to fully enjoy the film have expressed their thanks and appreciation of the online video service for sharing the movie classic for one full day. Some watched it multiple times, where as others stated they were able to enjoy it with the family. We even saw a few instances of people who got the free trial just so they could enjoy Wizard of Oz.
