Kohls.com in top 10 favorite Web retailers

Kohls.com moved up two spots in the Stores magazine annual ranking of Internet retailers. The Kohl’s Corp. online store ranks 7th on this year’s Top 50 list, up from 9th last year.
In first through sixth places are Amazon.com, WalMart.com, eBay.com, BestBuy.com, JCPenney.com and Target.com. The survey behind the ranking asked more than 8,600 consumers to write in the names of sites where they shopped most online for apparel and non-apparel items.
In 8th through 10th places were Google.com, Overstock.com and Sears.com. Dodgeville-based Landsend.com remains in 15th place, and Eastbay.com, based in Wausau, makes an appearance this year in 27th place.
The most interesting, and not surprising, finding from the survey was the increased importance of price for shoppers in deciding where to buy. Low price was the most important factor for 74% of respondents, followed by free shipping, mentioned by 60%.
Another sign of the times: Craigslist–which is not a retailer, but a listing service where people sell used items–made the Top 50 list for the first time, coming in at 25th place.
